Are you preparing for a job interview? There are many myths about, how to make a good first impression. Here are 3 myths to dispel:

Myth 1: You have to wear a suit. Yes, it's true that most people should wear a suit. In business, you need to manage expectations, so it all depends on your industry, and the type of work you are applying. Ask yourself: How can people expect to go in your industry that you look like? In the formal sectors, such as banking, financial services and Pharmaceutical sales, you should definitely take a conservative, well-fitting suit.

But if you opt for a job in a trendy industry such as design or advertising, the most important elements of your wardrobe is your personal style. You need to look at the latest and unique, while still a professional look.

Myth No. 2: Skills are more important than image. Wrong. Here's a short story to illustrate the point. Two candidates applied for the same> Job at a large bank. One was qualified for the job, but a bad impression on her wardrobe and body language. The other was inexperienced, but a positive first impression. Guess who got the job? The second candidate. Myth No. 3 You can always overcome a poor first impression. Sorry, but that's not true. In an interview, you have minute, seconds actually connect to the interviewer. This is because we make an image is almost instantaneous. And we rarely change our first impression, because we have no time. Once we reached a decision, we are on the next thing. In our time compressed world, no one wants to reconsider a decision.
