Employment Agencies, Do They Help?
Yes, they definitely help. Registering with an employment agency can prove to be very useful in your search for a new employment opportunity. The agencies may not have a job in their database at the moment of your need, but something always come up. It will also cost you nothing to register with one. Employment agencies are not allowed by law to charge you a fee for a getting a job, they are supposed to get you employment for free. This is with exception of modeling agencies which charge a fee for getting models a job contract.
Job-seeker should not rely solely on recruitment agencies to search for work placement, rather they should seek other options such as recommendations from friends, colleagues in their field of specialization and other sources to get employment. If you must rely on agencies, then sign up with several agencies which specialize in your field or industry. Do not only register with the large agencies but also do so with some small agencies, preferably which are located in your locality. Most recruitment agencies can be found online through the recruitment agency finder .They are also available through the yellow pages and in most local directories. If you scope through the Executive Grapevine, a list of employment agencies are also listed. You will normally also find employment agencies advertising all sort of vacancies in newspapers, magazines, trade journals and many other publications.
Before sending your resume, you should contact the agency you have in mind, this is because most unsolicited resumes end up in the rubbish bins. Before you decide on which agency to use, it is a good idea to go and talk with as many agency representatives as you could. Majority of the best agencies will always invite you for a meeting. The ones, which specialize on your area of expertise, will definitely be able to furnish you with more information about what is prevailing in the job market. They will be able to advice you on other avenues for your talent that you may have overlooked and will be able to advise you on what position they would consider you for and the likely salary or wages range.
One thing about these agencies, they will always seek your permission before sending out your resume. This is to prevent any other agency sending the same resume from a single applicant to the same company that wants to fill a vacancy, otherwise a company may end up being billed twice for the same resume which is quite unprofessional. If a company receives your resume twice from different agencies, you will end up loosing on the vacancy because the prospect of a company paying twice for the same applicant is not viable. All in all these agencies are of a great help to any job-seeker ,if you come about an agency advertising a vacant job in what ever media, call them up and make sure they send your resume off. You will end up being invited for many interviews if you through these agencies.
