How do you measure the success of your job search

For a longer period may be frustrating at work, financially painful and confusing.

You can lose perspective. Are you so busy "doing", that you forget to analyze the results and if necessary to make the adjustments.

So how do you measure the success of your search path? A few things strike me based on my own research process history as well as discussions with other job applicants:

1. Do you have astrategy feasible?

In my opinion, success comes when finding a job hard work and preparation meeting with good timing. If you are without a strategy, it is likely that "finding acorns" basis and to provide a result but not good. My advice? The specific objectives for the week includes phone calls, networking events, networking calls, or coffee, etc., and then evaluate at the end of each week.

2. Take Action smartevery day in order to advance the research process?

It 's true that they are not looking for a job 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, you must be active. If you own is sitting at the computer waiting for e-mail alerts to get or scan and a new scan job boards with different keywords, you are not working smart.

3. Get your calls returned?

This is avery important and measurable metrics. The reality of this metric is important. In my experience, is an excellent result in 10 3-4 persons. A pretty good success rate in baseball, but a result very frustrating if you work diligently put out a couple of well-designed communication and only return very little to see. These discussions are recruiting network operators, employees who work on a target company. If you return to the top of all calls - NO - you areobtained is too high (wrong level in a company) or too far away (people who come who are too far away from you relational). I've always 10.2, not bad, but one wonders why these two and see if you drew on your next round of talks, the goal that people can make a better reason / motivation to help.

4. For calls recruiters?

Here I am not talking while you work - that are easy to obtain (we all callPersons who are employed, is not it?). Parliament therefore called for his interest in an open search, while you are unemployed. So if you call what does this mean? It means a few things. First, people for networking and sharing with your name recruiter. They do this because I'm your availability, but, more importantly, are willing to share your name, because they believe in you. Your recruiter calls are not a measuring instrumentOnly a successful research effort, but also a measure of how well you are treated and respected in the network.

5. Six people seem to want someone to talk?

If you have a typical networking event, where everyone is going their elevator speech *, there is always a period of informal networks at the end. Pay attention and you will notice are 7-8 smalls groups of 2-3 people. At the center of each group of four people. They are: the eventOrganizers, speakers, a job, the network has decided for you and for 4 or 5 people that actually had interesting things to say in their speeches lift. Have made him well, showed a confidence and make eye contact with everyone in the room as he spoke. How was your speech? If you are approached to have your speech? Without a dynamic elevator speech, infringe the rest of the crowd lining up at the net with one of the other four people (a difficult start to theseparate).

* (An elevator speech is a presentation of 30-60 seconds that sums up your experience, your area of destination, the geography of the target, the target position, target companies and hopefully some memorable anecdote about your success - to be remembered, it never hurts! Job has a pair of the group as she) makes you valuable to others.

6. For telephone interviews?

Telephone interviews are a measure of your CVAbility to clearly and quickly communicate your credibility and the public company fit the description of the work. If you do not have a phone interview, is likely to be, the demand for all the wrong places (six or under-qualified) or your resume is not strong enough to create an impression. Moreover, disappointing results on telephone interviews are also a reflection of over-written, "tries too hard" cover letter. Get too cute with your cover letter andcan take off in a negative way, immature and unprofessional - the purpose of your resume / cover combo in the trash.

So, to look at the results you get and how people react to you. If they ask you to others or move to find a comfortable ground up ("Hey, the buffet looks good, nice to meet you")? How to compare the results with others in search of work in your network. If all the other interviews and he was responsible for filling out your LinkedIn profile to get to 100%have to do!

Take time once a week to stop "doing", write your results and plan for adjustments to get back on track.

To measure the success of your job-search

Being in between jobs for a longer period of time can be frustrating, financially painful and confusing.

you can lose perspective. You are so busy "doing" that you analyze the results and to forget how to make necessary adjustments.

So how do you measure the success of your search? A few things that the strike to me because of my own search process history as well as discussions with colleagues and job seekers together to:

1st Do you have a reviewableStrategy?

In my opinion, job search success comes when hard work and preparation to meet timing. If you are without a strategy, you are likely to find "Acorns" by accident and in a way that provide a result but not good. My advice? Specific objectives for the week that phone calls, networking events, networking calls, or coffee, etc, and then evaluate include at the end of each week.

2nd If you are taking smart action, and anyevery day in order to progress the search process?

While IT Week is true that you have a job, not after 12 hours a day, 7 days, you must be active. If you see e sit before your computer waiting-mail alerts to get or scan and re-scanning job boards with different keywords, you are not working smart.

3rd Receive your calls returned?

This is a verymeasurable and important metric. The reality of this metric is important. In my experience, is a really good result 3-4 people out of 10 A pretty good hit rate in baseball, but a very frustrating result, if you diligently, act put a few well-designed communication and get back very little to show it. These discussions are in recruiters, hiring managers networked, employed persons who work on a target company. If you are no calls again and again - no - you are eitherDo not reach too high (wrong level in a company) or too far (touch with the people who are too far away from you relationally). If you get 2 / 10 is not bad, but wonder why the two returned and called to see if you can on your next round of calls, people who target a better reason / motivation to help you have, can.

4th Are you always calls Recruiter?

Here I am not talking while you work - these are easy to get (all call you manwho are employed, is not it?). I am unemployed talk calls seeking specific interest in an open search for you, while you are. So, if you mind, these calls are, what does it mean? It means a few things. First, the people you networking and sharing with your name recruiter. They do this because they are your availability, but more importantly, they are willing to share your name, because they believe in you. Your recruiter calls are not a measuring only onesuccessful search effort but also a measurement of how well you are cared for and respected your network.

5th Are you someone people seem to want to talk to?

If you are a typical networking event, where everyone is going their elevator speech *, there is always a period of informal networks at the end. Take care and you will notice are 7-8 smalls groups of 2-3 persons. In the middle of each group one of four people. They are: the organizers,Speakers, a worker who decided to show the networker and the 4 or 5 people, the really interesting things had to say in her elevator speech. They delivered it well, showed a confidence and made eye contact with in each room, as she spoke. How was your speech? Had you approached after your speech? Without a dynamic elevator speech, you will join the rest of the crowd waiting in line, to network with one of the four above-mentioned people (a tough start to separateyourself).

* (An elevator speech is a 30-60 second presentation that a summary of your professional experience, your target industry, target geography, target position, target companies and hopefully a few memorable stories about your successes - an unforgettable experience to be, it also includes Never hurts to job offer a few leads the group as IT) to make it worthwhile for others.

6th For phone interviews?

Telephone interviews are a measurement of the ability of your resumequickly and clearly communicate your credibility and fit with the firm's job description. If you are still no telephone interviews, it is likely that you are either applying for the wrong job (you are over or under qualified) or your resume is not strong enough to give the impression. In addition, a poor record on telephone interviews was also a mirror image of an over-written "to try hard" to cover letter. Get too cute with your cover letter stand out and you cana negative, immature or unprofessional way - landing your resume / cover combo in the trash.

So, look for the results you get and like the people react to you. Are they the introduction of other, or you find a convenient reason to move on ("Hey, the buffet looks good, nice meeting you")? How do your results in comparison with other job seekers in your network. When interviewing anyone and you are busy filling out your LinkedIn profile to get 100%, you have to work toto do!

How do you measure the success of your job

In the jobs for a longer period can be frustrating, financially painful and confusing.

You can not lose perspective. They are so busy "doing" that you analyze the results and, if necessary, remember to make adjustments.

So how do you measure the success of your search? A couple of things that seem to me in my own history search process and discussions with fellow job-seekers on the way:

1. Do you have a legally enforceableStrategy?

I believe that job search success comes when hard work and preparation meet with good timing. If you are without a strategy, you will probably "find acorns" by accident and in a manner which yield a result, but not good. My advice? Specific objectives for the week that even phone calls, networking events, networking calls, or coffee, etc., and then evaluate at the end of each week.

2. Make smart action, and eachevery day to advance the search process?

It is true that you can search for a job 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, you must be proactive. If you are sitting at the computer waiting for e-mail alerts to get or scan and re-scan job search sites with different keywords, you are not working smart.

3. Get your calls returned?

This is a verymeasurable and important metric. The reality of this metric is so important. In my experience a really good result is 3-4 in 10 people. A pretty good hit rate in baseball, but a very frustrating result if you act carefully, put a few well-designed communication and you only use very little return to show it. This includes calls to recruiters, networked personal chefs, employed people who work toward a goal. If you get any calls back - NO - you are eitherDo not reach too high (incorrect level) in an enterprise or too wide (about the people that are away from your relational). If you get 2 / 10 is not bad, but wonders why these two called back and see if you can, during your next round of calls, target people who may have a better reason / motivation to help you.

4. For Recruiters calls?

Here I am not talking while you are working - the easy to obtain (anyone like to callWho are employed, is not it?). I'm talking about calls that are specific to seek your interest in open while you are unemployed. So if you get these calls, what does this mean? It means a few things. First, the people, the networking and the exchange for your name with recruiters. They do this because they are aware of your availability, but more importantly, are they willing to share your name, because they believe in you. Personnel service calls are a measuring tool is not only asuccessful search effort, but also a measure of how well you have cared for and respected your network.

5. Are you someone who seems people want to talk about?

If you take a typical networking event, where everyone gives their speech * elevator, there is always a period of informal networks at the end. Make sure you are 7-8 and are reserved for smalls groups of 2-3 persons. In the middle of each group is one of four people. These are: the organizers, theSpeakers, a job networkers, that show, and decided that the 4 or 5 people who had the really interesting things to say in her elevator speech. She delivered it well, showed a confidence and made eye contact with everyone in the room as they spoke. How was your speech? If they had raised after your speech? Without a dynamic elevator speech, join the rest of the crowd in line, to network with one of the four people on (the above-mentioned difficult to separateYourself).

* (An elevator speech is a 30-60 minute presentation that hurts an overview of your experience, your target industry, target geography, target position, target companies and hopefully some unforgettable anecdotes about your successes - are unforgettable! It never closes, A few job offer has led to the group, as it makes you more valuable to others).

6. For phone interviews?

Telephone interviews are a measurement of the ability to edit your cvto communicate quickly and clearly your credibility and fit with published work of the company description. If you do not get phone interviews, it is likely that either the application for all the wrong places (you are over or under qualified) or your resume is not strong enough to give the impression. Even a poor record on telephone interviews is always a mirror image of the overridden one, "too much" cover letter. Get too cute with your cover letter and you can draw ina negative, immature or unprofessional way - landing your resume / cover combo in the trash.

So look for the results you get and how people react to you. If they are and run into others or looking for a convenient reason to move on ( "Hey, the buffet looks good, nice meeting you")? How do your results in comparison to other job seekers in your network. If all the other interviews, and you are busy filling out your LinkedIn profile to have up to 100%, you workdo!

Take time once a week to stop "doing" Check your results and plan for adjustments to get back on track.
